Chapter 163
The doorbell sounded.
“Go open the door first.
Ji Qingqing put down the seasoning bottle and went to open the door.
Lu Lixing glanced at that seasoning bottle. He confirmed that what Ji Qingqing added earlier was sugar and not salt. And on the other hand, the bottle labelled salt was hidden together with a pile of seasoning bottles located far back.
There’s no way he’ll redo it again, Lu Lixing thought to himself as he picked up a piece of shrimp to taste. Luckily the sugar Ji Qingqing added wasn’t much, although it tasted sweet, it was still an acceptable range. In short, still edible. Hence he went continued and added the salt into the pan once more.
Outside the door were the hotel staff that had especially come over to deliver the Napoleon Wrasse. “Miss Ji, we’re here to deliver the Napoleon Wrasse as per Mr. Lu’s instructions.”
Ji Qingqing looked at the small bucket the hotel staff was carrying. “Come in then.”
The staff entered the room, looked around, and asked her. “Miss Ji, this fish…”
“You can hand it to me, it must have inconvenienced you.”
“It’s no big deal.”
Lu Lixing came out of the kitchen, holding a spatula. He met with the two staff’s shocked gazes. Walking over to Ji Qingqing, he glanced at the motionless Napoleon Wrasse in the bucket. “It’s still alive?”
The staff meanwhile, continued staring at him with their eyes agape.
At that time when they received Lu Lixing’s call, they assumed that it was Ji Qingqing who wanted to cook on a whim. But now, they saw Lu Lixing all dressed in a pink apron and holding a spatula. How could Ji Qingqing be the one cooking when it was obvious that Lu Lixing was the one doing it.
Thinking that, they couldn’t help but to gaze curiously at Ji Qingqing.
To convince a man to do her bidding so completely, just how did she do it?
Not hearing any reply. Lu Lixing turned and glanced at the two of them. “It’s already dead?” He asked.
A hotel staff snapped out of her daze. “No no no, it’s still alive, look.” She shook the side of the bucket and the Napoleon Wrasse inside began flapping its tail. “It’s moving!”
The two hotel staff smiled at him. “Mr. Lu, If there’s nothing else, we’ll be heading off first.
Lu Lixing let out a soft ‘mhm’ in reply.
The door closed and Ji Qingqing carried the small wooden bucket containing the Napoleon Wrasse into the kitchen. Lu Lixing bent over, brushing the back of her hand as he conveniently took the wooden bucket from her.
“How is Napoleon Wrasse prepared?”
“You can steam it.”
Ji Qingqing started to feel hungry as she thought of the fresh and succulent taste of the fish she had the other day,
Then the two of them fell silent simultaneously as they stood before the small wooden bucket.
The hotel did not help them prepare fish.
“Do you know how to kill fish?”
“I don’t.”
“Then what should we do?”
“Just steam it directly in the pot.”
“You can’t do that! It’s gut has so much dirt inside.” Ji Qingqing pondered for a bit and strongly felt that she had to take action this time. She rolled up her sleeves, raised the knife and sharpened it. “Forget it, I’ll do it instead!”
Ji Qingqing scooped out the Napoleon Wrasse from the small wooden bucket and placed it on the chopping board. Mimicking the way she saw how fish were killed in the market, she pressed the spine of the fish with one hand and positioned the knife above it’s belly. Just as she was about to slice down forcefully, the fish having seemingly sensed the danger jumped out of the chopping board. It thrashed and flapped around, splashing water everywhere. Then it leapt from the countertop and landed on the ground.
Ji Qingqing’s face and clothes were all wet with the water droplets that came from the fish leaping down. Feeling annoyed, she wiped her face. “I’ll definitely kill you today, no matter what!”
After saying that, she squatted down to catch the fish.
However, the fish was very slippery. After using both her hands to catch it, the fish struggled once more and slipped back onto the floor again.
Seeing Ji Qingqing make multiple attempts to catch the fish, Lu Lixing resigned himself and suggested. “Let me do it instead.”
