My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 201 Kicked Off With A Bang

The players from both teams warmed up together on the pitch and once the time was 8:30 PM, they were all asked to make their way down the tunnel and get ready for the match.

For this match, they were going to be putting on their orange home jersey with the black polka dots while the goalkeeper was going to be putting on the black kit with no special designs.

Just before heading out of the locker room, Norman had a few things to tell them, things that might help them during the match, and after telling them that, it was time for them to start heading out for the match.

They met up with the Young Boys players on the part of the tunnel where they had to line up before they would be given the signal to start making their way to the pitch.

The Swiss super league side were putting on their away jersey which was a white jersey that had yellow and black intersected lines running down through the middle of the shirt and breaking on the point where they had the name of their sponsor before continuing further down.

It didn\'t take long before they got the signal to start making their way onto the pitch and just as they stepped out of the tunnel, the stadium started to get filled with applause from the fans.

"Welcome to our viewers from all around the world, it\'s your regular commentator, Jim Waterson, and joining me in the studio as always to offer his expert analysis and opinion is Mr. Steve Jefferson."

"Thank you, Jim, it\'s really nice to be back here once again and it looks like we have an interesting match ahead of us," Steve said.

"Yeah, unlike Unique FC, this is BSC Young Boys\' first pre-season match that alone is a reason why they should be more prepared compared to Unique FC, but then again Unique FC have played a couple of matches and should be more agile, I think their only downside in this match is that their match against Eibar was just yesterday, the players who played the most minutes in the match won\'t be starting in this one." Jim expressed.

"You\'re right, Jim, I see a lot of non-starters in Norman\'s squad and a few of them are also going to be playing off position," Steve said. "Fredinho will be starting on the left wing of attack while Minino will be starting on the right wing of attack."

"Uh....I think it won\'t take long for Minino to adapt to that position given the fact that he is a central midfielder who plays down the right naturally, Fredinho, on the other hand, may need some time to fit into that position but who knows, he may adapt quickly and surprise us all." Jim articulated.

The match was all set to kick off as Gregory was standing over the ball waiting for the referee\'s whistle and as soon as he heard it, he rolled the ball to Frankie who tried to dribble his way past the player in front of him, he had to send the ball back to Luis Roberto after almost losing it.

"There\'s no Mateo, Ferran, Carlos or Merino, Adolf, and Roland on the pitch but they\'ve got a couple of good players on the pitch and it\'s a good thing that they have Dave in between the sticks too," Steve said.

"Yeah."

BSC Young Boys were pressing high against the Bilbeth Premier League side but they were doing their best to keep hold of the ball and avoid getting it too close to their box.

Jonas received the ball from Henry and pushed forward with it a little before he sent it flying toward Minino from the top.

The player was running down the wing at that time with a player heading straight for him and the ball.

The midfielder had a plan quickly formulated in his mind, he waited for the ball to get close enough and low enough before he quickly raised his right leg and sent the ball over the player heading toward him with his back heel before quickly zooming past him to bring it down with a neat touch and continue his run toward the box.

"Woah! That was beautiful from Minino!" Jim exclaimed.

The now winger raced toward the box and just before he could run into both of the players there he sent the ball to Gregory and then asked for the ball back as soon as he made his way into the box, Gregory was almost muscled off the ball, but the youngster managed to get the ball to his teammate before crashing to the floor, yet there was no reaction from the referee but that didn\'t matter.

Merino received the ball with a neat touch and quickly wriggled away from the player marking him with neat footwork before he sent the ball flying toward the goalpost with just a little bit of elevation, the ones from behind couldn\'t get to him on time.

"Minino!"

The ball was sent flying toward the right side of the goalpost and the midfielder made sure to keep it as far away from the goalkeeper as he could and it worked perfectly as the goalkeeper was only able to get the tip of his gloves on it before the ball flew into the back of the net.

"It\'s in! What a smashing kick from Minino! I said it wasn\'t going to take him long to adapt on that wing and he has just proved me right!" Jim exclaimed.

"That was a fabulous goal, talk about the run and the pass to Gregory to create space to get into the box and Gregory did well to return the ball to him, that was a wonderful goal just in the third minute of the match," Steve said.

His teammates, the ones who wanted to join in on the celebration were all gathered around him now as the fans chanted the name of the club.

"Well, that was fast," Dave murmured from where he was standing at the edge of his box with his arms crossed. "I guess Mateo was right, playing on the right wing won\'t be that hard for him."

<I want to say the same but you can\'t just jump to conclusions like that because of one goal, the goal was great but there are other things that makes a right winger good, we\'ll just have to keep watching and see what he\'s going to do next>

\'Okay, but. I think you have more surprises coming your way.\' The goalkeeper replied.

"That was their fastest goal so far in their pre-season tour and it had to come from a Midfielder filling in on the right wing. All I can say is that this match just kicked off with a bang."
